DJI Drones Recommendations

Introduction

Our company, Nature ConneXion, offers guided tours in the province of New Brunswick, Canada.

We are avid birders and whale watchers. Our love for the outdoors, and connecting with nature gives us many opportunities to observe incredible landscapes and sceneries.

When nature becomes your passion you get out in all seasons, facing all conditions, at all times of the day or night.

Since conditions are not always favorable, it is essential to have an excellent drone with an equally excellent quality lens that lets you exceptional photos and videos showing the finest of details.

Getting it right by choosing the right drone, especially when trying to document that incredible landscape!

The DJI brand has been the number-one selection for all levels of expertise. We are not experts on drones but we require top-notch equipment to document our experiences.

When it comes to quality versus price, DJI is the brand we recommend to all our clients.

Every nature observer uses different brands so it comes down to personal choice in the end but we can only recommend DJI based on our personal experience with the other brands and research.  We are dedicated to the DJI  brand as our number-one choice overall.

What we have learned

We wanted to know which brand would better fit our needs for this new passion.

We did the legwork and reviewed every product we could get our hands on.

When we started asking our drone operator friends about the different brands they wouldn’t talk about any other brand but DJI, so we were a bit biased when we started our research and came to the conclusion that they were right!

When we looked at the more affordable brands, they just didn’t come close to the quality of products that DJI offers and you pay for what you get.

Drone recommendations

When it comes to drones, DJI offers a range of models, but for our recommendations, we will stick to the mini, below 250 grams which doesn’t require a license to register these drones.

They can be flown by simply following applicable safety requirements.  Drones that weigh over 250 grams have to be registered with Transport Canada and labeled with their registration number and you’ll also need a special license to operate them.

For those reasons, we will only talk about the weight below 205 grams, (DJI Mavic) series for our recommendation.

One of their top model, the DJI Air 2S which retails at $1,500 with the minimum DJI Air 2S essential bundle will get the best of all worlds: portability and picture clarity. The Air 2S is the ultimate drone for aerial photography on the move, featuring the iconic Sony IMX383 image sensor with a 1-inch CMOS and 20-megapixel image resolution. With a 2.4μm Pixel size, the DJI Air 2S features superior low-light performance so you can capture all the detail of the world even after the sun goes down.

The DJI Mini 4 Pro is DJI’s cutting-edge mini-camera drone to date.  The drone retails for $1,000 but you will want to purchase it as a DJI Mini 4 Pro Fly More Combo at around $1,400 and we would recommend the DJI MINI 4 Pro Fly More Combo Plus for around $1,500.  It seamlessly combines robust imaging features, Omnidirectional obstacle detection, an innovative ActiveTrack 360° feature with the new Trace Mode, and an impressive 20km FHD video transmission range. These enhancements cater to both seasoned professionals and newcomers, adding a host of exciting features to enjoy.

With the Intelligent Flight Battery Plus, you’ll enjoy a maximum flight time of 45 minutes.

The super-wide 100° FOV lens allows you to capture sweeping landscapes, further expanding the view your photos capture of the world.

There’s no doubt that the Mini 4 Pro is a powerful micro drone.  Unlike previous DJI mini drones, the Mini 4 includes omnidirectional obstacle sensing and a 20 km range to let you fly farther and safer than ever before.  The combination of powerful imaging capabilities, intelligent features, and miniature size brings even more things to love for pros and beginners alike.

The DJI Mini 3 Pro is a small, powerful, and portable drone with a lot of features. It is not only compliant with regulations, but it is also the safest in its class, weighing less than 249g and featuring upgraded safety features. With a 1/1.3-inch sensor and top-tier features, it redefines what it means to fly Mini.  Selling at about the same price as the  DJI Mini 4 Pro we would recommend that you get the the 4 for your money.

We presently have The DJI Mini 2 SE which retails for under $400 but you would probably want to add a bundle or combo and I would suggest that you go right to the DJI Mini 2 SE Everything you need kit for just under $800, you would save in the long run with the 3 batteries, and spare parts.

The Mini 2 SE has a maximum flight time of up to 31 minutes, giving you more than enough time, even with a few retakes, to prepare, compose, and fire the perfect shot! The Mini 2 can withstand winds of level 5 as high as 37.8 km / h and can take off from up to 4000 meters above sea level, making it flexible for flying on a windy beach or high up in the hills.

The camera on the Mini 2 SE is capable of shooting 12-megapixel photos in both JPG as well as DNG RAW formats. The Mini 2 can shoot 2.7K Ultra HD video at up to 30 frames per second and 4x digital zoom depending on the shooting resolution. The 3-axis motorized gimbal ensures consistent, smooth video in most shooting conditions.

Conclusion

If we’re talking DJI drones and staying under 250 grams in the Mavic series we would recommend the DJI MINI 4 Pro Fly More Combo Plus retailing at $1,500 if it’s in your budget.  If you have a lower budget the DJI Mini 2 SE Everything You Need kit retailing at $800 would be our recommendation.

it’s best to shop around, do research, and make comparisons because you need to know what feels right for you.
