Be like a ship

On life’s path, realize how little is needed to survive

Pack lightly, never hesitate and take a dive!

Be sure to have all supplies for the long haul

It’s uncertain if engines will fail, making one stall

When faced with a storm, head for a safe harbour

In sure and secure places, drop your anchor

Trust your moral compass to guide your journey

Skill is gained through storms, not on calm seas

Steer away from pirates.

Look for a safe harbour when you need guidance

Keep safe from harm’s way by tying the correct knots

Set boundaries by navigating away from relationships fraught

Ride the waves of the rough seas

Always sail along following the breezes

Through terrible storms, the compass can guide

Hold the wheel close to your heart for the ride

Stop making all the efforts in relationships and let that ship sink

Never compromise your standards or let yourself shrink

After the rain, the sun dries all the decks and bathes them in light

Cloudy nights precede bright moons and starlight

When storms are brewing, search for solid ground

Let all your woes be silenced and drowned

All hands on deck during the winds of change

Make new plans and seek helpful advice to rearrange

Learn to sail steadily through any storm

Plan a mutiny and go someplace warm

Adjust your sails during high winds

One cannot know happiness unless chagrined

Sail your own ship and don’t let others rock your boat

Life rafts can protect helping to stay afloat

Never remain in harbours while the sea is serene

Stay curious, explore regions never seen

One can put up the sails or put down anchors to rest

Taking it slow and steady is sometimes best

Stay focused on the beacon ahead

Raise your proud flag to the masthead

Ships are made to explore, not stay in safe havens

Keep dreams alive-it’s part of the equation
